Enjoy a guided tour of the Hanna Roundhouse! The efforts of the Hanna Roundhouse Society and volunteers are preserving prairie railroad stories, bringing Canadian heritage to life. History exhibits with railroader stories, memories & photos shared by family members offer a good read; Walk in the engine bays where steam locomotives & machinists/ welders/mechanics/maintenance workers created unique “relationships” between man & machine. Sit in an authentic 1930 railroad section man’s speeder once used for track inspection & service work; Walk across the 90′, 1920 locomotive turntable seen in the rock band, Nickleback’s hit video “Photograph” (original band members grew up in the Town of Hanna.) Schools and private groups are also welcome for tours.
The 2025 construction to build Indoor Washrooms & a Ready Room for a Bride or Entertainer with private washroom, has been completed! Thank you to Prairies Canada Economic Development & Travel Alberta for funding, & the Harvest Sky Economic Development for applying for the Grant.
2026 Wedding & Event Bookings are being accepted! Facility rental inquiries can be emailed to: hannaroundhouse2013@gmail.com where rates & availability can be discussed along with dates to view the facility. Our 2026 season is expected to begin mid-May & end Sept 30th.
Tours of the 1913 Canadian Northern Railway Roundhouse can be booked in advance, or by chance. To book a Tour date: Please email hannaroundhouse2013@gmail.com well in advance to arrange. No Tours will be offered if the Roundhouse site &/or building has been rented for an event. Admission: $10/per person.

Resurfacing the North & South Lower Roof Decks was completed & just waiting for the facia trim to be completed in the spring of 2026. The Roundhouse roof is now completely waterproof, no longer leaking.
Construction on Phase 1 of the Hanna Roundhouse Rehabilitation Project was completed in time for our September 27, 2025: Hanna Roundhouse Grand Opening, which was wonderful!

Our entertainer, Elton Lammie was excellent & is strongly recommended! And again, our caterer Trina Hernden, was also amazing! And the HRS committee did a wonderful job!

Community Church Service June 22, 2025. The date was actually changed to June 29 due to rain which we desperately needed.
The Hanna Ministerial members hosted this event for all which was thoroughly enjoyed by about 200 people! Great music & messages, puppet show for the children & BBQ hamburgers/hot dogs/refreshments/ice cream were offered to all.
The Hanna Roundhouse Society offered the Roundhouse for this event with all collections going towards the Hanna Ministry to support our community! We look forward to another successful event in 2026!
Construction on Phase 1 of the Hanna Roundhouse Rehabilitation Project: Started March 10, 2025! In June 2024, Harvest Sky Economic Development Corp. was awarded $550,000 by the Prairies Economic Development Corporation & Travel Alberta to invest into the 1913 D.B. Hanna Roundhouse & “kick start Tourism in our area”.
Heated Washrooms, a Guest Ready Room with Seasonal Utilities within the 1913 D. B. Hanna Roundhouse will open up many opportunities for many more events to come to Hanna & support our local economy. The revenue from any additional rentals will help many more future restoration projects take place.
FACILITY RENTAL: Availability of the 1913 historic roundhouse in Hanna, AB continues for you, or your organization, to create your own unique event. Ongoing restoration projects continue to be completed by the Hanna Roundhouse Society with more & more rental revenue, fundraising, donations & available grants.
